Project description

Biological support directly in Bremen.

Infrared Spectroscopy can be used for cancer investigation, distinguishing between healthy skin and melanoma cells. The measuring methods is based on shifts of CH2- and CH3- symmetric/antisymmetric stretch ratio in lipid molecule. My role is to understand the change of CH2- stretch ratio in the cases of healthy and tumor cells detected by IR sensor.

Another goal of the project is to develop on-chip elements for IR and optical analysis of suspended cells. These elements and the system on which they will be integreated will be dedicated mainly to detect single or small cluster of melanoma cells in lymph fluid without using labels. In this process is very important the treatment of lymph fluid before the detection, and this is my task.
